These hazelnuts are grown from seeds from Yamhill European Hazelnut (Corylus avellana), an early ripening variety used in commercial production. Yamhill consistently produces some of the highest quality hazelnuts out there. Additionally, Yamhill is immune or completely resistant to Eastern Filbert Blight.
Fall 2022 seedlings were grown from nuts produced under the 2021 pacific northwest heat dome, with temperatures reaching 110F+. In our own plantings from previous years that have gone through 105F, Yamhill seedlings have survived better than seedlings of other varieties.
These bare-root seedlings are between 1 and 3 feet tall.
